As I told you at the beginning of my article of mine, Sons of the Forest does not support cross-platform compatibility. This game is the successor of the previous version called Forest, which was also a single-platform game. As of now, the game Sons of the Forest supports only one platform – Steam and Steam can only be operated using a computer. So you must have a computer to play the game Sons of the Forest.
Cross platform gaming indicates those games which you can play from multiple and different console families. If you want an example, suppose you are on your computer. Now you want your friends to join in your game. Then your friend who has a PlaySation4 or an Xbox console also can join your game and play along with you. But unfortunately, Sons of the Forest does not have this feature currently.
How To Use Feathers In Sons Of The Forest
If you are wondering how you can use the feathers that you have collected from the beach killing the seagulls, let me tell you that these feathers have only one usage. Feathers can only be used to craft Stone Arrows in the game Sons of the Forest.
1. Cross Generation Compatibility
Suppose, you save your game on an older version of a console. Then you start the game on another console which is an upgraded one from the same console family. If you are able to start the game from the last saved point on the older version console, then the game has cross-generation compatibility.
To give an example, suppose you saved a game on an Xbox Series S or X. Then you open it on an Xbox One. If you can play the game from the last saved point on the Xbox Series S or X, the game has cross platform compatibility. But this feature has a problem too. You can go from an older version to a newer version, but you cannot come from a newer version to an older version.
2. Cross-Save in Sons of The Forest
As the game Sons of the Forest is available only on Steam, Cross-Save is currently not allowed in this game as it is not available on any other gaming consoles.
