PS5 or Xbox One X: These Exclusive Games Will Decide

Shashakjain

The world prepares for the release of two next-generation gaming consoles this year: Sony’s PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s Xbox One X. Surprisingly, the two consoles have the same basic hardware configuration – they will both be custom-built AMD systems with Zen 2 CPUs and Navi graphics, coupled with a ton of RAM and high-speed SSD storage. It seems obvious that processing power alone will not decide which one of the two will be the better console from a sales point of view – it’s the game variety available for them that will have the final word. So, let’s take a look at the biggest titles set to be released on both.

Godfall – PS5 and PC

The list of exclusive titles to be released together with the upcoming PlayStation 5 is pretty short at this point – after all, there are still at least seven months until its release. But Sony won’t let its fans play little more than card games and gambling titles on the PS5, so we can expect the list of high-profile titles to grow as its release approaches. The one we know of, in turn, is very promising: it will be a fantasy looter called Godfall.

Godfall will be a high-fantasy action RPG published by Gearbox Software. The developer, Counterplay Games, has a team of 75 professionals with experience in the development of titles like God of War, Destiny 2, Call of Duty, and Bioshock Infinite, among others – the mention of these titles promises a high-profile experience.

Godfall will be a third-person, loot-driven experience designed with cooperative gameplay in mind, set in a universe filled with “heroic knights, arcane magic and forbidden realms”, inspired by the “Stormlight Archive” novel series, Joe Abercrombie’s “The First Law” series, and Isaac Asimov’s classic “The Foundation” series.

The game is set to be released together with the PlayStation 5 this holiday season – in parallel, it will hit the Epic Game Store on PC.

Unknown Bluepoint games title – PS5

Bluepoint Games is a development studio known and appreciated for titles like the remastered edition of Shadow of the Colossus (PS4) released in 2018 and the Xbox version of Titanfall, among others. And now the studio is working on a new title to be released on (or with?) the PlayStation 5.

Mystery surrounds the new in-development title – all that’s known is that the game is the biggest project the studio has taken on up to this point. How big, you might ask? Well, Bluepoint says it “aims to define the visual benchmark for the next generation of gaming hardware”.

Fingers crossed.

Halo: Infinite – Xbox One X

The Halo series is synonymous with the Xbox platform – it is one of the strongest brands for the console. It is thus obvious that the new generation of the console will come with a new generation of the game.

Developed by 343 Industries and SkyBox Labs, the game will be a first-person shooter set in the Halo universe, with Master Chief returning once again to take on “the greatest adventure yet to save humanity”.

The game will probably not be an Xbox One X exclusive – it will be playable on Xbox One, too, and it will also have a PC release – but it will look and feel much better on the new generation of the console. Given the planned release date – sometime in the fourth quarter of 2020 – it will likely hit the shelves around the holiday season, together with the new Xbox console.

The game will have a beta program, too – so expect new details about it to hit the news pretty soon.

The details about these upcoming games are scarce but one thing’s for sure: they will look and feel amazing on their next-generation hardware. And they are worth being excited about.
